iNatch is a graphical interface to manipulate proof games.
A proof game is chess game that allows to reach a given position. The interface presents by default 2 diagrams. The left one is the position to reach, the right one holds a chess game.
In the world of chess problems, proof games belong to the retrograde analysis category. When I was responsible for the retro section in Phénix, I created iNatch to help me to render the text for published problems. The software also helps me to view problems I receive via email, whichever format or language.
Here are the most important features of iNatch:
- a powerful "Paste" option, which finds diagrams and games in the middle of text, in several languages
- possibility to open several games at the same time
- several fairy conditions: Einstein, Monochromatic, Multicapture, Vertical Cylinder
- interface in english or in french
- great flexibility in the positionning of informations (try to grasp a tab - Position, File or Moves - and to move it outside of the window!)
- multiplatform : written in Java, it works fine on Windows, Linux or Mac (Java 5.0, or better, is needed)
The current version of iNatch is 0.7 (april 2007).
